Here on the shores of Lake Michigan we have much the same environment, just a little cooler in the summer. I have had very good success with three different kinds of blueberries, maybe just luck! We can talk about that at another time. You might enjoy seeing some of my posting, lots of pictures. You can find my blog using Google search engine: gardensatwaterseast.blogspot.com/ I will continue to check in on yours, always enjoy. I had 6 blackberry canes before and they did great, but never fruited, so after 6 years I yanked them. I have a different variety now. And they are THORNLESS :)

Wendy, I know that one of the biggest killers of blueberries is alkaline soil. They really like it to be acidic. I know blueberries grow here, and the variety that I am trying are from Wisconsin, so I hope these work for me.

Pam's English Garden, I love those tulips in my header. They are 7 year old Princess Irenes. I would definitely say that they are my favorite tulip -- and I have a LOT of tulips!

The Violet Fern, and I still have to plant them again in the spring! It is worth it. I did try to plant some directly in the garden, but mostly kept hitting past plantings of tulips, so I gave up. There are just too many invisible bulbs out there.Sylvanahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13186604429680496847noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13309574.post-63570249251761786042010-11-14T16:57:20.359-06:002010-11-14T16:57:20.359-06:00Wow ... I also planted a blackberry plant and it's doing quite well. I probably won't get fruit next year, but something to look forward to in the years to come.meemsnychttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10584936035577822444noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13309574.post-67381529028661824942010-11-09T15:39:37.299-06:002010-11-09T15:39:37.299-06:00That's an interesting idea of planting bulbs i...That's an interesting idea of planting bulbs in boxes - I'll be curious to see how it works for you!Cyndyhttp://gardeningasylum.wordpress.com/noreply@blogger.com
