I was doing some much needed weeding this morning - and boy was it ever needed as I uncovered a whole plant that I didn't even realized was flowering!!I'm not fan of the solid throats on daylilies, but all in all, I guess this one isn't so bad.
And I can't believe that it was blooming under all those weeds.
I bought it this spring thinking it was going to look like this. They don't even look similar! Maybe it grows into its color?I thought it would be tall, so I planted it to the back of the border - it's short. There wasn't much truth in that tag!
The form of this lily is its true saving grace - it is beautifully compact. Just like I like them!

Wonder if the plant was mislabeled? But it is a pretty daylily, love the green deep inside the flower.
Iowa Gardening Woman, it is possible. When I Googled this daylily, the vast majority are a red lily -- which doesn't even match the picture here. Who knows what this lily is supposed to look like :)
My husband liked this lily just as it bloomed. I will be moving it closer to the garden path though since it is so low growing.
I have 'Alabama Jubilee', which I got from Great Garden Plants last year. It's one of my favorites! Here is a photo of mine. The color on my screen looks pretty accurate compared to what it looks like in the garden.

Sure! Ask me or remind me again next year. I'll see how it is by then. It only put up two scapes this year and I accidentally broke one of them off before it could bloom. :-( It really is a gorgeous daylily. It's very similar in color to 'South Seas.'
The day lily is really pretty! This reminds me of one of my biggest pet peeves. I'll order a day lily, nurture it for at least a year until it starts blooming, then find it's the wrong color! Grrr on the nursery! I did get a candylily that kind of grew into it's color - unless I just forgot what it was supposed to look like, but one day lily - elonore (white/lavender) ended up being orange!

Wendy, it's almost just as annoying to get the wrong plant and have it be spectacular but not able to get more because you don't know what it is.
