The tulip flowers rising above the leaves really bring the garden to life in May. I really like the Chocolate foam flower. The flower spikes are so dense and tightly packed, and the dark pattern down each leaf lobe is very attractive.
WOW - your collection of tulips are amazing! I think I have to look into that blue heron. And your foam flower is huge - a favorite of mine. Weird my pulmonaria and bergenia haven't bloomed yet. Just beautiful!

Love all your tulips, especially Greenland (one of my favorites - in fact, one of the only ones I grow, other than species tulips - too lazy to keep replanting each fall). So interesting to see things blooming together in your garden that here in CT bloom over 1 month apart!
Northern Shade, I got the foam flower years ago and it did not really care for its first home. So I moved it to its current location under a huge white pine -- loves it!

Garden Junkie, Greenlands are my husband's favorite. They are one of my favorite, but my absolute favorite is Princess Irene.
Some of our plants bloomed a little early due to our wacky spring, but I think we are just about on track again.
wow, spring has sprung! Lots of interesting plants here! That fern peony is really cool - love the contrast of the frilly foliage and the big poufy peony. I also love that Queensland tulip - so delicate.

I love the bloom of the flowers! They are so pretty and lovely. I want to have a garden same as that.
Wendy, that fern peony was a passalong. A young woman knocked on my door one day and handed me a piece of plant wrapped in a moist paper towel. She said, "My mom loves your garden and wants you to have this." I knew what the gnarled root with a little frilly foliage poking out of it was right away. I squealed with delight!
Melanie, I have tried to grow those before and they always failed. This year I used the pot method and got a bunch of them blooming this year. I guess that method is good for more than just holding plants over winter.

PamsEnglishGarden, I love tulip time. It is my favorite time in my garden, both for the beauty of the tulips, but also for the lack of biting insects!
I'm very envious of your tulips! I only got leaves this year on my first try, but no flowers. Same for the chocolate mint. It is growing fine and tastes lovely in tea but no flowers (yet). I'm still hoping for something.
IS, feed your tulips bone meal. This might help them build energy for next season.
I love your tulips. So many and they're all beautiful! The Chocolate Mint Foamflower looks wonderful. It's a treat to see some things that it's too hot for in my neck of the woods: Rutabaga, Glove Flower, and Bergenia.

SweetBay, it is a good year for the Chocolate Mint foamflower. I was surprised at how pretty the rutabaga flower is. I might just grow those en masse in my flower garden. I especially like the time of year they bloom!
Les, I often think of all the things that I can't grow instead of being happy with the things that I can grow. And I am SO HAPPY that I can grow tulips - wouldn't trade them for anything :)
