I was reading another garden blogger's comment on another garden blog about how everyone likes to show close-ups of the flowers in their garden, but rarely if ever do they show what the actual garden looks like. Although I have shown some full garden pictures before, I usually do shy away from it. Even though I have been working on my gardens for 8 years, I just don't think they are pulled together very well. Not like Sandy's or Zoey's. In fact, I didn't realize just how far I had yet to go until I saw their garden shots. Geez! I am SO SLOW! They've managed to do all that in just a few years. Eight!? What have I been doing?!
Well, despite my shame, here are some wider shots of my gardens. I have already gotten a bunch of ideas from all of you, so I'm hoping by this time next year I will have a lot of great shots that I can really be proud of!

YOu have an awesome garden! And those tiger lilies are gorgeous! Very exotic looking. All I have are dinky marigolds in a balcony planter. But hey, everybody starts somewhere, right?
MK- Thanks for the boost in my garden self-esteem. I have an idea in my head of what I want it to look like, and when it doesn't I have trouble seeing it as anything less than awful. So thanks!
When I started gardening, it was house plants. Then container gardening. Then a small veggie garden. Now look at me! A good 1/4 of my yard is nothing but garden! But what a wonderful addiction it is!
Like the Packers, you perform much better outdoors than indoors.
p.s. I still love you!
Go Pack!!
Your garden is beautiful! I know what you mean about Sandy's and Zoey's! I felt totally intimidated after seeing their gardens. But now I'm content with what I'm accomplishing. I think the main thing is that YOU are enjoying yourself. I know I am!
BTW I've been 'gardening' at my home for over 20 years (I usually throw in the towel around this time of year and let nature take its course) and there are areas I would never take a picture of for my blog - not even on a dare!
Sylvana, I've been gardening for ten years at my current house and my gardens don't look great. But you know what? They never will and I don't care. I love experimenting with flowers and placement.
Sabine, so great to hear someone else who throws in the towel about now. Thought I was the only one.
Sabine- I laughed out loud, because I give up right about now too!
OldRoses- I know exactly what you mean. I have told other people that my garden will never be done because I don't want it to be done. I think that is really true, not just an excuse, too. ;)
scbnyph- Thanks! You are too kind. I have lots of ideas for next year. Today as I was looking at my garden and made a discovery- I need more white flowers!
Sylvana, I think you are doing great. This is the time that many throw in the trowel because once the summer bloomers are finished there is not much to look forward too, so why bother? I have planted more late-blooming plants than any other. That inspires me to keep things up so it will look nice when they bloom. Things like black-eyed Susan, Sedumn Autumn Joy and fall asters. As you have discovered, the internet is a great source of inspiration.
Zoey- I have a lot of fall plants too. I like to have something blooming all the time. And fall is my favorite season, so I especially try to find fall bloomers!
I am a little late reading this entry. Gardening to me isn't the end result, it is a passion. Lots of people have nice gardens but it's the gardeners who worry about rust on their hollyhocks and run outside in a storm to check the garden. I love the uniqueness of peoples gardens. I check out Sylvana's,Sabine's,Old Roses,Crazy Gramma's, Mrs.Wilsons,Scbnymps and lots of other blogs all the time for ideas and inspiration. Garden on girls!!!
P.S. Zoeys too!
Sandy- I really like the process so not getting the results I have in my head doesn't bother me too much. Not having everything completed let's me be excited for a new season to begin!
